Am Freitag war es Zeit um weiter zu ziehen und mich von einem weiteren wundervollen Ort zu verabschieden - wie habe ich die Lake Safari Lodge (https://www.lakesafari.com) genossen! : )
Gibson und sein Minibus holte mich im Hotel ab und wir fuhren in 3 Stunden 130 km zum Turnpoint auf der Hauptstrasse Lusaka - Livingstone. Unterwegs wurde immer wieder gestoppt und es stiegen Leute ein und oder aus...
On Friday it was time to move on and say goodbye to another wonderful place - I really enjoyed Lake Safari Lodge (https://www.lakesafari.com)! : )
Gibson and his minibus picked me up at the hotel and we drove 130 km for 3 hours to the turnpoint on the main road Lusaka-Livingstone. We stopped frequently along the way to let people on and off.
Nach einer halben Stunde Wartezeit an der Hauptstrasse fuhr der erste grosse Bus ein und ich hatte Platz! Nun ging es noch mal 7 Stunden und 450 km nach Livingstone....
After waiting for half an hour on the main road, the first big bus arrived and I got a seat! Now it was another 7 hours and 450 km to Livingstone...

Um 20 Uhr erreichte der Shalom Bus (https://shalombusservice.co.za) endlich das Intercity Busterminal in Livingstone! Ich nahm ein Taxi, das mich in 10 Minuten zum Victoria Falls Waterfront Lodge (https://thevictoriafallswaterfront.com-hotel.website) fuhr, wo ich für die kommenden Tage ein Zimmer gebucht hatte. Amy hatte mir ein hübsches Zimmer am Fluss bereit gemacht und ich hatte gerade noch Zeit eine Pizza zu bestellen, bevor das Restaurant schliessen würde - ich konnte es nicht erwarten, diesen Ort bei Tageslicht zu sehen!
At 8 pm the Shalom Bus (https://shalombusservice.co.za) finally arrived at the Intercity Bus Terminal in Livingstone! I took a taxi, which took me in 10 minutes to the Victoria Falls Waterfront Lodge (https://thevictoriafallswaterfront.com-hotel.website), where I had booked a room for the next few days. Amy had prepared a lovely room for me by the river and I just had time to order a pizza before the restaurant closed - I couldn't wait to see this place in daylight!

Am nächsten Morgen wurde ich von grunzenden Flusspferden und vom Geschrei der Affen auf meiner Terrasse geweckt... Ein frecher Affe schlich sich sogar einmal in mein Zimmer und war nicht so einfach raus zu jagen! Und eines Morgens traf ich einen Frosch in meinem Badezimmer an! : ) Ein paar Meter vor meinem Zimmer strömte leise der weite Sambesi Fluss vor sich hin... Das Wasser stand sehr hoch, 3 m höher als normalerweise. Die letzten zwei Wochen hatte es viel geregnet und so trägt er nun immense Massenwasser zu den Victoria Fällen, die sich die ganze Woche hinter dickem Dunst versteckten...
The next morning I was woken by grunting hippos and the squawking of monkeys on my terrace. One cheeky monkey even snuck into my room and wasn't easy to chase out! And one morning, I found a frog in my bathroom! : ) A few meters from my room, the vast Zambezi River flowed gently by. The water level was very high, 3 meters higher than usual. The last two weeks had been rainy heavily and the river was now carrying immense amounts of water to the Victoria Falls, which had been hidden behind a thick mist all week...

Latest at breakfast I realized, that everything about this hotel was perfect: from the incredibly comfortable bed with its wonderful pillows to the fantastic restaurant with its real pizza oven... and the hotel's has its own agency Safari Par Excellence (https://safpar.com), where I immediately booked a few excursions:

Am späteren Nachmittag am Samstag ging ich auf eine Sonnenuntergangsbootsfahrt auf dem Sambesi. Leider hatte es so viel Wasser, dass wir nicht zu den Fällen fahren konnten... der 2-stündige Ausflug war trotzdem schön!
On Saturday afternoon, I went on a sunset boat trip on the Zambezi. Unfortunately, the water level was so high that we couldn't go to the falls... but the 2-hour trip was still lovely!

Am Sonntagmorgen startete ich früh: Um 6:30 Uhr wurden wir per Jeep zum Mosi-ao-Tunya Nationolapark gefahren... Nachdem wir am Fluss ein kleines Frühstücken genossen hatten, ging es weiter bis zum Platz, wo wir zu Fuss nach Nashörnern Ausschau hielten. Diese waren nach einer kurzen Zeit und entdeckt: 3 Exemplare der riesigen weissen Nashörner konnten wir in aller Ruhe beobachten! : ))
On Sunday morning I had an early start: at 6:30 am we were driven by jeep to the Mosi-ao-Tunya National Park... After enjoying a light breakfast by the river, we continued to the spot where we would search for rhinos on foot. They were spotted after a short while: In peace we were able to observe three of the enormous white rhinos! : ))

Mit Kangwa und dem Jeep durfte ich anschliessend mit zur Stadt fahren um Livingstone zu erforschen... Das gemütliche Kubu Café lud zu einem leckeren Cappuccino ein, ich schlenderte durch das Städtchen mit Gebäuden aus den 40-er Jahren und informierte mich über Busse im Intercity Busterminal. Mit einem Yango Taxi fuhr ich zurück.
Afterwards I got a rude to town with Kangwa and his jeep to explore Livingstone. The cozy Kubu Café was perfect for a delicious cappuccino, I strolled through town with its 1940s buildings and inquired about buses at the Intercity Bus Terminal. I took a Yango taxi back.

Am Montagnachmittag wurde ich per Schnellboot fussaufwärts zum Elephant Café (https://safpar.com) gefahren. Das Waisenhaus und haute cuisine Restaurant, das zur Victoria Falls Waterfront Lodge gehört, befindet sich mitten im Mosi-ao-Tunya Nationalpark. Die bedrohten, aufgenommenen Elefanten können sich frei bewegen, kommen aber am Abend zur Fütterungszeit immer nach Hause. Ich konnte alle vier anwesenden Elefanten füttern... und darauf war es Zeit mich einem köstlichen Gourmetmenu zu widmen! : ))
On Monday afternoon I was taken by speedboat stream upwards to the Elephant Café (https://safpar.com). This orphanage and haute cuisine restaurant, part of the Victoria Falls Waterfront Lodge, is located in the heart of Mosi-ao-Tunya National Park. The endangered elephants roam freely but always return home in the evening for feeding time. I was able to feed all four elephants there... and then it was time to indulge into a delicious gourmet meal! : ))

Sylvia, die ich vor drei Wochen im Norden Sambias, im Chimfunshi (https://www.chimfunshiwildlife.org) in Chinglola kennen gelernt hatte, hatte mir den Kontakt ihrer Schwester Lorraine gegeben, die nur gerade 1 km entfernt wohnte. Wir treffen uns für ein Abendessen in der Victoria Falls Waterfront Lodge und es war wie mit ihrer Schwester Sylvia: als kannten wir und ewig! Am Mittwoch trafen wir uns zum Frühstück mit ihren beiden Nichten Melissa & Chrissy... und am Nachmittag ging es endlich zu den Victoriafällen: Durch das viele Wasser gab es einen dicken Dunst, der die Fälle verdeckte... wir bemühten uns gar nicht den ganzen Wanderweg abzulaufen um noch nasser zu werden und setzten uns nach der ersten kräftigen Dusche in die Sonne um zu trocknen...
Sylvia, whom I met three weeks ago in northern Zambia at Chimfunshi Wildlife (https://www.chimfunshiwildlife.org) in Chingola, gave me the contact of her sister Lorraine, who lived just 1 km away. We met for dinner at the Victoria Falls Waterfront Lodge and it was just like meeting her sister Sylvia: as if we'd known each other forever! On Wednesday we met for breakfast with her two lovely nieces Melissa and Chrissy... and in the afternoon we finally went to Victoria Falls. The high water created a thick mist that took the sight of the falls... we didn't even bother to walk the entire trail and gettong even wetter... after our first good soaking we sat in the sun to dry off...

Ich verlängerte meinen Aufenthalt zweimal und blieb schlussendlich eine ganze Woche in der Victoria Falls Waterfront Lodge - eine wahre Oase, um es sich gut gehen zu lassen... Danke Amy, Graham und das ganze Team! : )
