Um 6:30
Uhr am Montagmorgen brachte David vom David Crater Homestay (+255 782 375 783)
mich zur Bushaltestelle in Lushoto. Der Mwensino Bus kam eine halbe Stunde zu
spät und mit tatkräftiger Hilfe wurde ich und mein Gepäck in den Bus
verfrachtet... dann ging es los 250 km und 5 Stunden bis nach Moshi.... leider
war der Kilimanjaro von Wolken bedeckt...
At 6:30 am on Monday morning David from David Crater Homestay (+255 782 375 783) took me to the bus stop in Lushoto. The Mwensino bus was half an hour late, and with some enthusiastic help I and my luggage were loaded onto the bus... then off we went for 250 km and 5 hours to Moshi... unfortunately, Mount Kilimanjaro was shrouded in clouds...

In der
Bushaltestelle in Moshi wurde ich von Micca, dem Tuktukfahrer des Mkoani
Homestay (+255 622 305 018) abgeholt. David
von Lushoto hatte es mir empfohlen - genau, was ich brauchte: ein richtiges
Zuhause! Dee und ihr freundliches Personal taten alles, damit ich mich hier
richtig zuhause fühlte! - Endlich viel Ruhe und Zeit für meine Weiterreise
(Safaris und Malawi) bei angenehmen Temperaturen von 30 Grad am Tag und 20 in
der Nacht! : )
At the bus stop in Moshi I was picked up by Micca, the tuk-tuk driver from Mkoani Homestay (+255 622 305 018). David from Lushoto had recommended it to me - exactly what I needed: a real home! Dee and her friendly staff did everything to make me feel at home! Finally plenty of peace and quiet and time for my onward plannings (safaris and Malawi) with pleasant temperatures of 30 centigrade during the day and 20 at night! : )

Als ich
einen Spaziergang durch das Anwesen machte, lernte ich Samsun (Führer und Zimmer: +255 715290163) und Whynot kennen.
Sie zeigten mit dem kurzen Weg zu einer Badestelle im Karanga Fluss, wo eine
ganze Kinderschar im kalten Kilimanjaro badete... ich auch.
While taking a walk around the property, I met Samsun (guide and accommodations: +255 715290163) and Whynot. They showed me the short way to a swimming spot in the Karanga River, where a whole bunch of kids were bathing in the cold waters of the Kilimanjaro... and so did I.

Die meisten Touristen sind in Moshi um den Kilimanjaro zu besteigen... ich hatte keine Lust mit hunderten von andern Touristen den Berg zu beklimmen... Dafür besuchte ich mit Sam
und Laura den Weruweru Fluss - einfach nur herrlich und
erfrischend! : )
Most tourists are in Moshi to climb the Kilimanjaro... I didn't feel like climbing the mountain with hundreds of other tourists... Instead I visited the Weruweru River with Sam and Laura – simply wonderful and refreshing! : )

Am
Dienstag fuhr ich mit Dee und Hennessey in die Stadt. Dort wurde ich von ihren
Freunden Peter und Edward begrüsst, die mir halfen einen Schneider zu finden,
der meine kaputten und abzuändernden Kleider reparierte, während ich eine Runde
durch die Stadt drehte…
On Tuesday, I went into town with Dee and Hennessey. There I met their friends Peter and Edward, who helped me find a tailor to repair my clothes while I took a stroll around town…

natürlich ging ich auch diese Woche auf meine gewohnten Joggingrunden: Ich
versuchte morgens den Kilimandscharo zu sehen, aber leider versteckte er sich
die ganze Woche meistens hinter Wolken.
And of course I went on my usual jogging tours this week: I tried to see Mount Kilimanjaro in the mornings, but unfortunately it mostly was hidden behind clouds all week...

Am
Montagmorgen, als ich in Moshi in der Bushaltestelle ankam, lernte ich Manuel (+255 712 238 296) kennen. Er zeigte mir seinen
Ausweis als Führer und machte mir einen unglaublichen Preis für einen
Tagesausflug zum Materuni Wasserfall... damit es keine Missverständnisse gibt,
schrieb ich den Betrag, den er mir nannte, in eine Nachricht an ihn auf... Darauf
ging er zwar nicht ein, aber er holte mich pünktlich ab. Ich frag noch einmal
nach, wie viel das Ganze kosten würde... er bröckelte einen vierfachen Preis
hervor und ich war so wütend, dass ich ihm sagte, er soll mich gleich wieder
zurückfahren! Als ich zurück war, musste ich für mich lachen, denn es fiel mir
eine Geschichte ein, die mir in Marokko passiert war:
Auf dem
Weg über den Atlas von Marrakech nach Taroudant stand ein Auto am Strassenrand
und winkte um Hilfe... Als wir stoppten, bat er uns in der Stadt doch bitte
seine Verwandten zu benachrichtigen, damit sie Hilfe schicken könnten... Klar,
machten wir ihm den Gefallen! Die Adresse war ein grosses kundenleeres
Geschäft, das verzweifelt nach Klienten Ausschau hielt! Das war der Trick und
ich fand ihn ganz schnell raus! - Irgendwie müssen die Jungs ja an Kunden
kommen! Ich kontaktiere Manuel, erzählte ihn die Geschichte und er brach in
Gelächter aus - damit unsere Freundschaft besiegelt! : )
On Monday morning, when I arrived at the bus stop in Moshi, I met Manuel (+255 712 238 296). He showed me his guide ID and quoted me an unbelievable price for a day trip to Materuni Waterfall... to avoid any misunderstandings, I wrote down the amount he quoted in a message to him... He didn't respond to it, but he did pick me up on time. I asked again how much it would cost... he blurted out a price four times higher and I was so furious, that I told him to take me right back! When I got back, I had to laugh to myself because I remembered a story that had happened to me in Morocco:
On the way over the Atlas Mountains from Marrakech to Taroudant, a car was parked on the side of the road waving for help... When we stopped, he asked us to please notify his relatives in town so they could send help... Of course, we did him the favour! The address was a large, clients-empty shop desperately looking for customers! That was the trick and I figured it out very quickly! - The guys have to get customers somehow! I contacted Manuel, told him the story and he burst out laughing - that was the beginning of our friendship! : )

Auf
unserem Ausflug zum Materuni Wasserfall mit Besuch der Materuni Coffee Plantations
(https://www.materunicoffee.com), erwies sich Manuel als einen
pünktlichen und zuverlässigen Gentleman Rasta und wir hatten viel Spass... so
dass wir am Samstag eine Tour nach Chemka zu den traumhaften heissen Quellen
von Kikuleta unternahmen. - Einfach nur traumhaft... das Wasser war zwar nicht
heiss, aber auch nicht so kalt wie die anderen Kilimanjaro Flüsse.
On our trip to Materuni Waterfall, including a visit to the Materuni coffee plantations (https://www.materunicoffee.com), Manuel proved to be a punctual and reliable Rastafarian gentleman and we had a lot of fun... so much that on Saturday we took a tour to Chemka to the stunning hot springs of Kikuleta. - Simply breathtaking... the water wasn't hot, but it wasn't as cold as the other Kilimanjaro rivers either.

der Nähe des Mkoani Honestay befindet sich das Jackfruit Café Café
(+255 672 999 588) mitten in einem
grossen Garten - das Essen ist so gut, dass ich gar nicht weiter nach andern
Essensmöglichkeiten suchte!

Very close to Mkoani Honestay the Jackfruit Café (+255 672 999 588) is located in the
middle of a large garden - the food is so good that I didn't even bother
looking for other places to have dinner! : )
