Am Montag war es Zeit uns von der wundervollen Sossusvlei Lodge (https://www.sossusvleilodge.com) zu verabschieden und weiterzuziehen... Bevor es aber weiter an den Atlantik ging, statteten wir dem Sesriem Canyon einen Besuch ab. : )
On Monday, it was time to say goodbye to the wonderful Sossusvlei Lodge (https://www.sossusvleilodge.com) and to move on... But before heading to the Atlantic coast, we payed a visit to the Sesriem Canyon. : )

Nach diesem herrlichen Morgen waren wir bereit für 6 Stunden auf 350 km Naturpisten... es war wie den ganzen Tag Dokumentationen schauen - einfach nur atemberaubend zu beobachten, wie die Landschaft im Halbstundentakt änderte.
After this glorious morning, we were ready for a 6-hour drive on 350 km of dirt tracks... it was like watching a documentary all day - simply breathtaking to see the landscape change every half an hour.

In Swakopsmund trafen wir Christine im Nel’s Estate für die Schlüsselübergabe unseres Quaint Seaside Cottage (https://www.nels-estates.com/stay/quaint-seaside-cottage). Eine Angestellte führte uns zur Wohnung direkt am Meer und zeigte uns alles, damit wir uns richtig zu Hause fühlen würden... und das taten wir vom ersten Moment an: Das kleine Juwel mit Blick auf das Meer war nicht nur funktionell, sondern auch wunderschön eingerichtet! : ))
In Swakopmund, we met Christine at Nel’s Estate to pick up the keys to our Quaint Seaside Cottage (https://www.nels-estates.com/stay/quaint-seaside-cottage). An employee guided us to the apartment right by the sea and explained everything so we would feel right at home... and we did from the very first moment: This little gem overlooking the ocean was not only functional but also beautifully furnished! : ))

Endlich fanden wir etwas Ruhe vom vielen Reisen und Zeit zum Verweilen und Geniessen, die Wohnung war für 5 Nächte frei... und das taten wir in vollen Zügen! Brige war der Hausschlüsselchef, da ich schon bei der Erklärung sah, dass es 6 Schlösser zum Schliessen gab plus eine Alarmanlage! Und prompt: Beim ersten Verlassen der Wohnung, als wir alle Schlösser abgeschlossen hatten, bemerkten wir, dass wir etwas vergessen hatten... aber nach 5 Tagen würden wir die vielen Schlüssel am Bund bestimmt kennen!? ; )
Finally, we found some peace and quiet after all the traveling and some time to relax and enjoy ourselves. The apartment was available for 5 nights... and we really enjoyed it! Brige was in charge of the house keys, as I could see from the explanation that there were six locks to close, plus an alarm system! And sure enough: The first time we left the apartment, after locking all the doors, we realized we'd forgotten something... but after five days, we would surely recognize all the keys on the ring! ; )

Swakopmund is a lovely place to linger... with a beautiful old centre, many restaurants and a wonderful coastal hiking trail!

Am Mittwoch erkunden wir die Gegend um Walvis Bay. Hier gibt es einen grossen Hafen und viel Industrie... wir fuhren gleich weiter zu den Salinen mit Pelikanen und Flamingos...
On Wednesday, we explored the area around Walvis Bay. There's a large port and a lot of industry there... we continued straight on to the salt flats with pelicans and flamingos...

Am
Donnerstag machten wir uns auf den Weg 80 km Richtung Norden der Küste
entlang... In Henties Bay kehrten wir im Misty Bay Café () ein und beschlossen
hierher für ein frühes Abendessen zurückzukehren... denn ein echter Pizzaofen
lockte… Aber zuerst fuhren wir noch 60 km weiter zur Seehundkolonie in Cape
Cross - wow! : )

On Thursday, we set off 80 km north along the coast... In Henties Bay,
we stopped at the Misty Bay Café and decided to come back later for an early
dinner... because a real pizza oven was calling… But first, we drove on another
60 km to the seal colony at Cape Cross - wow! : )
