Kurz vor Mittag nahm verabschiedete ich mich vom Personal des The Seles (https://theselesboutiquehotel.com) und nahm die Stunde zum Hafen in Sansibar Town in Angriff. Alles klappte wie immer am Schnürchen: Ochu (+41 77 454 99 06) erwartete mich bereits und übernahm das Steuer. Im Hafen standen viele Burschen zum Helfen bereit… und meine Koffer wurden aufgeladen und zum Check-in der Zan Fast Ferry (https://zanfastferries.com) transportieren.

Shortly before noon, I said goodbye to the staff at The Seles (https://theselesboutiquehotel.com) and set off on the hour-long drive to the port in Zanzibar Town. Everything went smoothly, as always: Ochu (+41 77 454 99 06) was already waiting for me and took over the wheel. Many young men were waiting at the port to help me… and my suitcases were loaded and transported to the Zan Fast Ferry check-in (https://zanfastferries.com).

Um 14:30 Uhr verliessen wir Sansibar und eineinhalb Stunden später trafen wir in DarEssalaam ein. Auch hier waren die Hafenjungs bereit für Hilfe… und so lernte ich Alfa kennen, der mich mit seinem Taxi zu meine Freundin Bahati nach Bahari Beach fuhr. Die Strassen waren nicht nur schlecht, sondern voller Autos, Tuktuks und Mofas und für 20 km benötigten wir mehr als 2 Stunden! Hier auf dem Festland von Tanzania erwartete mich Neuland und ich würde fast sechs Wochen Zeit haben, um dieses Land zu bereisen...

At 2:30 pm we left Zanzibar and an hour and a half later we arrived in Dar Essalaam. Here too, the port workers were ready to help… and that's how I met Alfa, who drove me in his taxi to my friend Bahati's place in Bahari Beach. The roads weren't just bad, they were packed with cars, tuk-tuks and mopeds and it took us more than two hours to cover 20 kilometres! Here on the Tanzanian mainland, new territory awaited me, and I would have almost six weeks to travel around this country...

Ja, Weihnachten ist für mich jeden Tag! Ich gebe meine Aufmerksamkeit und Liebe jeden Tag und Geschenke mache ich, wenn es passt - nicht nur weil es Weihnachten ist... Bahati denkt gleich, so benutzen wir unsere Zeit um meine Pläne in Tansania zu schmieden, auszutauschen und aufzuarbeiten. Sie will privat bleiben, was ich respektiere, deshalb veröffentliche ich keine Fotos von ihr.

Yes, for me, every day is Christmas! I give my attention and love every day, and I give gifts whenever it the occasion is right - not just because it's Christmas. Bahati thinks the same way, so we use our time to make my travel plans for Tanzania, exchange and catch up on work. She wants to keep her privacy private, which I respect, so I'm not posting any photos of her.

Ihr Haus liegt direkt am Strand, was für mich natürlich ideal ist: So konnte ich frühmorgens meine Joggingrunden drehen - barfuss im Bikini, wie ich es am liebsten tue! : )

Her house is right on the beach, which is ideal for me, of course: I could go for my early morning runs - barefoot in my bikini, just the way I like to do it! : )

Trotzdem nahmen wir uns die Zeit und Bahati zeigte mir einige interessanten Dinge, die einfach mit den Apps Bolt oder Uber zu erreichen sind: Makumbusho Village, Schnitzereien in Mwenge...

Am Freitag fuhr uns Michael nach Bagamoyo mit seiner deutschen Geschichte… zuerst aber hielten wir in Tegeta um mir ein Busticket nach Tanga für Sonntag zu besorgen. Das gestaltete sich aber komplizierten als gedacht: Sonntag waren alle Busse ausverkauft (Feiertage!) aber für morgen Samstag fand Michael nach Telefonaten mit Freunden eines, das mir per SMS zugestellt wurde. Nach einem Cappuccino und etwas für unterwegs ging es 50 km und 1 Stunde Richtung Norden.

On Friday, Michael (+255 75 827 967) drove us to Bagamoyo with its German history… but first, we stopped in Tegeta to get a bus ticket to Tanga for Sunday. This proved more complicated than expected: All the buses were sold out for Sunday (holidays!), but after calling some friends, Michael found one for Saturday, which was sent to me via text message. After a cappuccino and some snacks for on the way, we headed 50 km and an hour north.

In Bagamoyo bestaunten wir die Kaole Ruinen aus dem 13. Und 16. Jahrhundert und nicht weit davon entfernt besuchten wir die katholische Mission. Es war sehr heiss und ich hatte Lust auf ein Bad im Meer… als wir aber dort ankamen, war Ebbe – unmöglich ins Wasser zu steigen! Stattdessen genossen wir auf der Terrasse des Empire Bays einen äusserst frischen und leckeren Saft. Fast zurück zuhause in Bahari Beach, setzten wir uns ins EFG zu einem frühen Abendessen, das dann doch nicht so früh über die Bühne ging, da es 1 Stunde dauerte, bis wir das Essen auf dem Teller hatten!

In Bagamoyo, we admired the Kaole ruins dating from the 13th and 16th centuries, and not far from there, we visited the Catholic mission. It was very hot and I felt like going for a swim in the sea… but when we arrived, it was low tide – impossible to get in the water! Instead, we enjoyed an extremely fresh and delicious juice on the terrace of Empire Bays. Almost back home in Bahari Beach, we decided to have an early dinner at EFG, which turned out to be not so early after all, as it took an hour before we actually got our food on the table!
