Kurz nach
11 Uhr holte mich Adem der North Ethiopian Tour Operator (https://netoethiopiantour.com) im Hotel ab um mich per privatem Transport nach
Bahir Dar zu fahren: 175 km in 4 Stunden, da es unterwegs viele Checkpoints
gibt... auch von privaten Armeen... 2x musste der Fahrer Schmiergeld bezahlen!
Zudem gab das Militär 5 gefundene Flüchtlinge mit nach Bahir Dar!
Shortly after 11 am Adem from North Ethiopian Tour Operator (https://netoethiopiantour.com) picked me up from the hotel to drive me to Bahir Dar by private transport: 175 km in 4 hours, as there are many checkpoints along the way... including some of private military forces... The driver had to pay bribes twice! In addition the military put five illegal emigrants into our small bus to Bahir Dar!

erreichen wir das Sky Resort (https://skyresortbahirdar.com)
in Bahir Dar, wo ich für 3 Nächte ein Zimmer reserviert hatte... Ich erhielt
ein Upgrade : ) und installierte mich in meinem hübschen Zimmer mit grossem
Balkon - leider sind auch in diesem Zimmer Mücken inklusive! ; ) Hier in Bahir
Dar sind die Temperaturen im Winter übrigens deutlich freundlicher als in Addis
Abeba, Lalibela und auch Gondar.
At 3:30 pm, we arrived at the Sky Resort (https://skyresortbahirdar.com) in Bahir Dar, where I had booked a room for three nights... I received an upgrade :) and settled into my lovely room with a large balcony – unfortunately, mosquitoes are included in the price! ( ; Here in Bahir Dar, the temperatures in winter are considerably more pleasant than in Addis Ababa, Lalibela, and even Gondar.

Dann traf
ich mich mit Adem (+251 93 291 9301) bei der
Ethiopian Airlines (https://www.ethiopianairlines.com), unweit des Hotels: Wir hatten
herausgefunden, dass es zwar Flüge zwischen Bahir Dar und Addis Abeba gibt,
aber nicht online buchbar sind... technischen Ursprungs, wie später herausfand.
Es warteten jedoch so viele Leute, dass wir beschlossen es morgen früh nochmals
versuchen... stattdessen trafen wir Abraham, meinen Führer hier in Bahir Dar,
im neuen Park Zembaba - und wie in Addis Abeba musste man auch hier einen
kleinen Eintritt bezahlen...
Then I met up with Adem (+251 93 291 9301) at Ethiopian Airlines (https://www.ethiopianairlines.com), not far from the hotel. We had discovered that while there are flights between Bahir Dar and Addis Ababa, they can't be booked online - due to technical reasons, as I later found out. However, there were so many people waiting that we decided to try again the next morning... instead, we met Abraham, my guide here in Bahir Dar, in the new Zembaba Park - and, just like in Addis Ababa, there was a small entrance fee.

Am
nächsten Morgen um 8 Uhr versuchten wir es nochmals bei der Ethiopian Airlines
und nach 1 h Wartezeit hatte ich ein Ticket Bahir-Addis Abeba-Semara für den
15. in der Hand... was hiess: 1 Tag
verlängern im Hotel = 1 Tag Urlaub! ; ) Aber auch viel Arbeit nachholen nach
dem schwachen Internet in Gondar... mein persönliches Internet mit Ethio
Telecom (https://www.ethiotelecom.et) funktionierte nicht und das des
Hotels war an und aus wie der Strom...
Aber
zuerst frühstücken und eine Bootstour auf dem Tana See: Kurz nach 12 Uhr
bestieg ich Abrahams Boot für eine 3 1/2 Stunden Bootsfahrt zu 3 Inseln auf dem
85x65 km grossen Tanasee... der See war glatt und wir glitten dahin zu den
Klosterinseln Entos Eyesu, Kibran St. Gabriel und Debre Maryam... begleitet von
Pelikanen, Nilmonitoren (endemische Halbwasser-Echsen) und sogar Nilpferden! :
)
The next morning at 8:00 am we tried again at Ethiopian Airlines and after waiting an hour, I had a ticket from Bahir Dar over Addis Ababa to Semara for the 15th. This meant: one extra day at the Sky hotel = one extra day of vacation! But also a lot of catching up to do after the poor internet in Gondar... my personal internet with Ethio Telecom (https://www.ethiotelecom.et) wasn't working, and the hotel's was on and off like the power...
But first: breakfast and a boat trip on Lake Tana! Shortly after noon, I boarded Abraham's boat for a 3.5-hour trip to three islands on the 85x65 km Lake Tana... the lake was calm, and we glided along to the monastery islands of Entos Eyesu, Kibran St. Gabriel, and Debre Maryam... accompanied by pelicans, Nile monitors (endemic semi-aquatic lizards), and even hippos! : )

Dann, am Donnerstag nach 1 Woche auf Reisen nach 4 Tagen in Addis Abeba, folgte endlich ein Ruhetag, ganz nach dem Motto: Am 7. Tag sollst du ruhen! : ) Trotzdem arbeitete ich an meinem Reiseblog und ging eine Runde joggen. Den Nachmittag aber verbrachte ich im Kuriftu Hotel (https://www.kurifturesorts.com/resorts/laketana)... am Pool und mit einer wundervollen Aromatherapie-Massage!
Then, on Thursday, after 4 days in Addis Ababa and a week of traveling, I finally had a day of rest, true to the saying: On the seventh day you shall rest! : ) Despite everything, I still managed to work on my travel blog and went for a run. But the afternoon I spent at the Kuriftu Hotel (https://www.kurifturesorts.com/resorts/laketana)... by the pool and enjoying a wonderful aromatherapy massage!
